STORY - WALL PADS.
i saw a mans business card and it said avid indoorsman. his company ghosted me during some intern interview process but now their fancy firm is gone. mine (which I started in 2017) is cooler and that’s… true.
in 2023 i moved to my first big girl, beautiful, blue inside the oven apartment. i had finally made it! and all i had to do was stay up there. this was absolutely harder than it sounded in my head, and still is every day. I am a creative person, and need a creative space. i’m also incredibly attention deficit and get zero dopamine from measuring or checking things over. needless to say, I was buying a lot of frames, and a lot of prints, and they did not all fit together.
when I realized I could flip the image and turn the frame into a white dry erase board, a permanent fixture of my apartment was born.
these boards (depending on how much I have going on, any piece of art is at risk of being flipped and used as a surface for me to empty my brains onto) - have become one of my favorite things in my apartment. not just because they are so useful and aesthetic, but because they came out of a time when I should have just measured - when my silly brain supposedly led me astray. they remind me that if i had matched up every print and frame, I would have had perfect gallery walls, but i wouldn’t have my wall pads, and without these wall pads i may not still have this beautiful apartment.
either way, they’re not mutually exclusive. i have gallery walls too.
